Installing Windsurf

Getting Started with Windsurf#

Windsurf is the world's first agentic IDE that revolutionizes how developers write code. This guide will walk you through the installation process.

System Requirements#

  • macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or later
  • At least 8GB RAM recommended
  • 1GB free disk space

Installation Steps#

  1. Download Windsurf from the official website:

    https://windsurf.dev/download

  2. Open the downloaded .dmg file

  3. Drag Windsurf.app to your Applications folder

  4. Launch Windsurf from your Applications folder

First Launch#

On first launch, Windsurf will:

  1. Request necessary permissions
  2. Guide you through setting up your development environment
  3. Connect you with Cascade, your AI pair programming assistant

Next Steps#

Once installed, you can:

  • Create a new project
  • Open an existing project
  • Start pair programming with Cascade
